One of the best...

things about the Bible conference was not only receiving such excellent instruction on the book of Matthew, but to also receive Dr. Hannah's teaching instruction on being a teacher of the Bible.

Again and again he emphasized that a Bible teacher's responsibility is to communicate clearly the truth and glory of the Gospel. Make the Gospel as glorious as it is. With every word, communicate the power and majesty and truth of Who God is, what He requires of us, and what He has done through His Son, Jesus Christ. It should honestly excite your socks off just thinking about the privilege of telling someone these things. (Okay, he didn't say the excite your socks off thing, but I'm sure his vernacular was similar.)

Three things he required that we remember in our teaching were:
1) Clarify your points
2) Illustrate the principles
3) Perpetually repeat

He explained that learning is a cognitive process with life effects. Learning can not only be a function of acquired knowledge, but will result in an application of what you have learned. When the acquired knowledge is Biblical truth, then the application of that truth will be wisdom. By the power of the Holy Spirit, a true believer can and does apply learned Biblical principles. A Bible teacher is tasked to not only teach the knowledge of the Bible but to exhort the listeners to apply Biblical principles through faith. The previous three steps are simple but direct ways to teach Biblical truth.

Some other nuggets from Dr. Hannah:

Judging our promises by our joys causes trouble.

Fallacious living is a fruit of fallacious understanding.

Entering the kingdom is not an achievement but a gift.

Light brings privilege which brings responsibility which brings judgment. Greater light brings greater responsibility which brings greater judgment.

Urgency is the mother of invention.

Jesus, in order to teach us lessons, sometimes puts us into situations of great tragedy that we will never forget. His intercessory ministry on our behalf does not prohibit the situation. He comes to us in His timing, perfect, although often considered "late" in our experience of pain. Yet, still believe--He is the king.

The learning curve is greater when the pain is greater.

Don't let your emotions get ahead of your knowledge of truth.

Train a servant and you will receive a leader.

Repetition is the mother of memory.

If you accept privilege, you must accept responsibility. The essence of responsibility is restriction.

Blessings today remind us of our future in heaven. Tragedies today teach us of hell--that which true believers will never experience in heaven.

If we have done no works for Him, it is because we have no true heart for Him.

The result of being a Christian is the development of godly character, but we've incorrectly made Christian character equal with being a Christian. We've made the fruit the essence.
