When your dashboard for....

blogging has changed, entirely, then it's obviously been a long time since you blogged.

Yada, yada, yada, life.

Now. To begin again.

I started this blog in May some years ago (I'm not a genuine blogger because I don't know my blog birthdate) to bridge the gap of thoughts that happened in the summer between my Sept-May work (teaching a Bible study). This May I retired from that work. After 8 years of every week being some form of prep for the next week's lesson. Even the summer contained preparation. I thought the work was to be my lifework.

Enter God's plans and exit my plans. Here it is another May and all the thoughts are about to pile up on the bridge. I'm in a season of finding new footing for what a week looks like that is not regulated by a schedule not my own. I'm an empty nester of sorts.

Not regarding the boys. They are still very much around. And tall. Did I mention tall? Yesterday I was standing between the two of the older ones when Husband walked up and whispered in my ear, "You're looking really small." And I know he was referring solely to the size comparison because I was presently engaged in stuffing my face with a hotdog dripping with Vidalia Onion Dip. That's very likely going to be my new "diet." Have your kids be larger than you and you will always look smaller.

Genius.

Chess will be 15 in July. Pele turned 14 in February. The Chairman turned 11 in April. I now have two ninth graders and a sixth grader. When you homeschool year round, that makes these days a perpetuity of high school and middle school. I'll cry tomorrow.

Today I'm considering new footing for the days. A list maker needs an agenda. So does a control freak, recovering or not. Here is the agenda:

*Clean out a junk drawer. To the very bottom.
*Write up the end of year school evaluation.
*Toss out 5 recipes that I've kept thinking I will cook and am deciding not to cook. Hence, throw them out.
*Eat some Vidalia Onion Dip.
*Read 2 chapters of Surprised by Grace. (Book study for this summer.)
*Read 2 chapters of latest Monk mystery.
*Earn some Swagbucks.
*Throw away two magazines in the bathroom reading basket that are no longer contributing to the welfare of the household.
*Work on my "Remember" word study.
*Walk for 20 minutes on the treadmill.
*Eat some Vidalia Onion Dip.
*Write tomorrow's agenda list.

A girl has to start somewhere.

Signed,
Looking for new footing and hoping it's flip flops

  2. I pray the Lord's blessings as you follow Him into this new "normal"--and hoping there's lots of Vidalia Onion Dip to be had! I'm liking your new diet strategy; I think I'll try it myself. Two boys down, already much (much!) larger than me, two pushing it to be there soon. Sigh. They grow up so fast.

Hey are you still headed to Orlando later this month? Would love a meet-n-greet!!
