Thanksgiving #13....

I'm thankful today for medical technology. What God has allowed doctors and nurses to be able to do to help you when you are sick or injured is such a far cry from what previous generations were able to accomplish.

When we went to Williamsburg a few years ago, one of the many exhibits we saw had to do with the medical tools and procedures of that period. Barbaric seems too tame a word for what happened to those soldiers of the War for Independence. The fact that any survived is its own miracle.

And while medical technology has not advanced to cure and heal all illnesses or maladies, there has been phenomenal advance when you consider the number of years since then. Advances in medicines and therapies, in prosthetics and surgeries, in infection control and sanitation. I am very grateful to be living during this time for medical needs than any other.

My grandchildren may realize the Star Trek medical advancement of hand scanner diagnostics and treatments, but I'm thankful for what I have received today.
