Thanksgiving #12....

I'm thankful today for family being with me while I have a surgical procedure and afterwards for recovery. My mom and dad have always been great about coming to help whether it was me directly or one of my boys or Husband that needed extra help. They do not live nearby so for them to come, it has usually been its own cost of travel and time that they have willingly given.

Years ago, when James was in the hospital in NC, my parents lived in Chicago. Mom came and stayed months at a time to help. Even taking time through the Family Medical Leave Act from her job so she could help us. My grandmother also came at one point and lived with me at the Ronald McDonald House a couple of months. I was not only grateful for her company but for the help she gave.

Knowing that the distance does not matter when you are truly needed is a gift they are giving once again to me today. I am thankful.
