Meandering Saturday....

ramblings.

*Contented sigh*

Husband had a long week. That translates into early mornings, late nights. I think we ate together as a family one time the whole week.

I had a long week.

Not eating together as a family is cardinal around here. We're militant about our family dinners.

So today was a strange opportunity. Usually Saturday is reserved for outside projects of yard work. Where Husband stands two inches taller as he proudly watches his three sons tote yard working equipment around. He supervises. With a lemonade in his hand.

Okay, not a lemonade. He doesn't drink fruity stuff.

But this morning's sunrise came with thunderstorms. The forecast called for 80% chance of rain. I think it meant, it will rain 80% of the day.

I was planted at my computer. Husband was planted at his. And the boys were like trailing vines. Into everything. Action had to be taken or the wet Saturday was going to disintegrate into options like a) whining; b) grumbling; c) complaining; or d) all of the above.

A quorum of decision makers was called and the day was put to a vote. Go to a movie matinee or meander. Meandering won hands down.

Meandering translates to load into the van and go yonder. Stroll leisurely through various and sundry stores. Some standard. Some off the beaten track. Throw in some ice cream. Stir. Make each other laugh. Remember in the practical how we enjoy being together as a family. Make unusual discoveries together. Pick up a small trinket or two. Watch the boys make financial decisions. And missteps. Learn. Live. Love.

We came home tired but extremely content. Meandering with meaning. Meaning that I thank God for this family o'mine.

  1. Our boys took to wrestling inappropriately. I resorted to family Nacho night. Which meant easy clean up for us. Joy all the way around!
