Praising His Name because...

He is worthy of our praise!

Today I had the blessed privilege of spending a few hours with a group of Christian sisters who exalted the Name of God for all that He had done in their lives over the past year in studying His Word, specifically Romans.  Romans is a difficult study to do because you must look at and learn many uncomfortable and unpleasant things about yourself--like human depravity and being fully deserving of God's wrath.  There are many incomprehensible things to learn about God--like His complete sovereignty, His amazing grace, and His full goodness.  Moreover, you must accept that seemingly opposite truths actually do exist in one truth with one another--like election and whosoever will, union of death and life with Christ, and suffering being for our good and eternal glory.

These women cried and laughed and exulted with one another at the impossible circumstances that God used for their good and His glory to make both possible and praiseworthy.  There were no regrets for having done the difficult task of due diligence in the Word of God.  There were no complaints for having their minds renewed with truth and their wills transformed for the kingdom.  There were no statements of mistrust regarding the marvelous and majestic character of God the Father towards His people.

Whenever I've been given this particular joy of hearing God's true children exalt His name, I thoroughly anticipate the glories of heaven where the sheep surround the throne of the Lamb and declare His glory and majesty.

After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb.  They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.  And they cried out in a loud voice: "Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb."  Revelation 7:9-10

THAT will be the day!  Until then, today was one of the best glimpses He could have given to me!

  1. My friend, Dorothy, who is also a BSF leader, expressed much the same thing after her time with her group yesterday!

I feel a bit wistful that I haven't been a part of it!

May God continue to deepen both your understanding of the doctrines of His grace and your love for Him!

  2. How wonderful and encouraging!

Our pastor is preaching through Romans and it is so full and rich...so much to take in. He is going very slow and being very thorough, which I appreciate.

  3. Sounds wonderful! There is almost nothing better than being with a group of women totally sold-out for God. What a joy.
