There is an odd....

The Original Perfect Post Awards – April 2007

balance in being a blogger--that of journaling some of the goings on in your life, heart and mind, or not.  That of disclosing of yourself the past and present events that have contributed to the shaping of who you are, or not.  Blogging started as a way for me to finally journal some thoughts, complete on a good day, of  the mundane, the serious, the frivolous, and sometimes even the glorious.  While I keep many things private, and will continue to do so, there is still at times, a heaviness of heart that comes out in my blogging.

Happy Birthday is a post I wrote for April 3rd, the birthday of my firstborn son.  J. would have been 13 years old this year.  He died at the age of 2 1/2 years old.  I have not shared that story completely.  It's still a part of my privacy and non-disclosure, for now.  God allowed that time in my life for sovereign reasons, and I will only share it to exalt His name, when He gives the words.

The post came quite from my heart and in quite complete thoughts.  While every year my son's birthday brings memories and tears, this year seemed its own significant milestone, and the words came from deep remembrance of all that was both lost and learned.

Yesterday, I received an email that the post was nominated for the Perfect Post Award by Jules of Everyday Mommy. Jules, thank you for thinking of me, not just in relation to the post but in relationship to what that day means.

  1. I am grateful to Jules for leading me your way. Your perfect post still has me torn between a broken heart and a surging one. In your post, I see quite clearly how it is possible to have both simultaneously. Thank you.
