Bookworms of the world....

READ!  and read and read and read!  Calling all worms, all wannabe worms and all future worms to the universe of reading!  I must be excited about this because I keep using !!!  I'm psyching myself up for teaching my youngest how to READ! this summer.

Here's the meme, nod to Kim at Hiraeth, and have you seen her BOOKMARKS?!  Look!  Read!

Hardback or trade paperback or mass market paperback?
I'll read a good book in any shape or form, even in stapled pamphlet, papyrus and scrolls. I prefer paperback.

Online purchase or brick and mortar?
I use both purchase venues.

Barnes & Noble or Borders?
Barnes & Noble monopolizes this town.

Bookmark or dog-ear?
Both, depending on which book and what is available.  The bookmark is certainly not usually traditional-- ahem, Wal-Mark receipt, post-it note, even a tissue, not TOO used.

Mark or not mark?
If it's mine, totally mark--in pencil.

Alphabetize by author or alphabetize by title or random?
I place the books in categories, to a degree.  Once my mini-library shelves are filled, the stacking begins in beautiful randomness.

Keep, throw away or sell?
Always intend to sell but end up keeping, giving away and occasionally throwing away.

Keep dustjacket or toss it?
Stack with the other dustjackets.

Read with dustjacket or remove it?
I said, stack with the other dustjackets.

Short story or novel?
Both.

Collection (short stories by same author) or anthology (short stories by different authors)?
Both.

Lord of the Rings or Narnia?
Both.

Stop reading when tired or at chapter breaks?
When tired at a chapter break--even if it means holding one eye open until I actually reach the chapter break.

"It was a dark and stormy night" or "Once upon a time"?
Both.

Buy or borrow?
Both.

New or used?
Both.

Buying choice: book reviews, recommendation or browse?
I depend on all three.  Book reviews and recommendations for theological, academic books.  Recommendation for reading enjoyment books.  Browse for the authors with which I'm all ready familiar.

Tidy ending or cliffhanger?
Tidy ending please, or I'm liable to write my own just so I can call it Period.

Morning reading, afternoon reading, or night time reading?
Night time most often unless I get up early enough to finish other things and catch a time or two.  Hey, why wasn't the bathroom time included here?

Stand alone or series?
Both.  But it must really be a good series for me to work at going through a great number of these.

Favorite series?
Does everything by P.G. Wodehouse count as a series, or Jan Karon, or C.S. Lewis?

Favorite book of which nobody else has heard?
My husband laughs at me trying to answer this one because I'm noted for not being able to pick "one" favorite.  It's more like a top 20 for me.  Have you seen how many "both" answers I have?

Favorite book of all time?
The B-I-B-L-E!

  1. " Hey, why wasn't the bathroom time included here?" He.He.He. Yes, much reading happens there at our house, too, I mean, where else am I actually ever left alone for very long?

  2. Thanks for playing!

I'm sorry I didn't see yours in time to get it posted on the roundup but I did put your name in the hat since I knew you were going to play.

I'll be doing another give away in a month or so, (no link required this time!) and I'll be sure to let you know when it comes up so you can participate!
