Thankful Thursday....

I am thankful for this week's introspection. My mind has been too noisy lately with the beginnings and endings of things. This week has forced me to slow down and choose.

I am thankful for a friend's enthusiasm for studying the book of Nehemiah. She is rejoicing in a God who restores. I know that God as well.

I am thankful for year round schooling. The schedule keeps us from black hole collapse. Accomplishment is helpful for keeping a day and a week on track.

I am thankful for the friends who open their homes and pools to myself and the boys for liquid refreshment and water sport. Living in this heat is made much more pleasant by poolside hospitality.

I am thankful for the Bible study idea that God has given me. Working on it throughout the day is keeping me grounded in this time of transition.

I am thankful for the book club that I am participating in this year with friends. We are studying through Surprised by Grace by Tullian Tchividjian. Our whole church is working through the book of Jonah for six weeks this summer so the book club is a great complement to the study.

I am thankful that even when you haven't blogged in months, writing is still a treat.

  1. It's nice to read your posts again, Elle.

  2. Hello Elle! It's been a long time since I've dropped by your blog, but then it's been ages since I've dropped by any blog (including mine). I'm waiting for a disgruntled sniff and turning of the head from the good people at Blogger any minute now. So glad to see that you and your family are doing well and that your heart for the Lord and sense of humor are still firmly intact.

I hope that this isn't too forward coming from someone you've never met face to face, but could I trouble you with something? My thoughts have been on you and your sweet James this week as I've watched some dear friends walk through the loss of their son. I keep thinking back to a beautiful post you wrote a couple of years ago about what you wish people had and had not said and done. I remember thinking when I read it that you were giving wise counsel and there are points I remember to this day. I would love to re-read it and have plundered your archives looking for it but have come up empty. I don't remember exactly when you posted it, but that's not surprising since I don't remember what my children ate for breakfast.

Would you mind emailing me a link to it if you still have access to it? I'm pretty sure you can email me something by clicking on my name. I think. Unless that's changed since I wandered away from the blogging world. I know this a random request and an even more random way to make that request, but it was the only way I could think of making that request. Sigh.

I'm sure the next commenters will be praying for you as you deal with the wacko who left you the world's longest comment.
