- Do you keep a running list of blog post ideas? I am all over the blog board on this one. I jot down ideas on all sorts of scraps of paper if not near the computer. Or I end up typing a bunch of drafts that languish indefinitely. I have also tried creating a Word doc to keep blog ideas in. At some point, each one has yielded a blog post as many times as not.
- Do you only blog on certain days and about certain topics? I have mentioned this before. I have toyed with the idea of a schedule. And then I get hives.
- Do you limit the number of memes you will participate in? Has not been a problem yet. I'm not often tagged for memes. Which is why I usually end up stalking memes on other people's blogs. And if so, what qualifications must a meme meet in order for you to join? I like to participate in memes that actually caused me to think about or remember life events. I'm not a fan of memes that resemble chain email letters.
- Do you keep your family anonymous, or do you use real names? I blog under a pseudonym and use nicknames for my children. Even they don't know who they are. On the blog, I mean.
- Do you feel guilty if you don't post for a few days? No, there are bigger things in my life to feel guilty about.
- Are there any off-limit topics that you will not blog about? I do not have an official list of off topic issues although I can think of some. Usually I find that the real nitty gritty pieces of life do not make it to my blog. The blog is a place for me to left off steam, create, explore, and wonder, but not a place to air dirty laundry. I try to keep it that way. The Editor (Husband) is my high source of appeal if I'm wondering about a post. Lots of times it comes down to the same rules of fashion, "if in doubt, don't."
- Do you monitor your blog stats on a regular basis? I look at them about twice a month. I simply cannot get my head around what brings the traffic or keeps the traffic away. Plus, there are three and four other things around here to monitor on a regular basis. They all have nicknames.
- Do you ever sit and stare at your computer monitor, waiting for inspiration to hit, only to give up and decide to just post tomorrow? (Or, even better, when that inspiration does not hit, do you think "Oooh, I know, I'll ask everyone else about their blogging habits!") First, the little parenthesis comment there is why I am enjoying A Simple Walk. I can so appreciate her humor. Second, if in need of inspiration I gather up my scraps of paper with blog ideas and try to remember what in the world I was thinking when I jotted down, "roadkill and spiritual illustration."
- Do you, without fail, refrain from blogging on any certain days of the week? Not really.
- Do you do most of your blogging in one day and then just publish throughout the week? I am a confessed blogging binge-er. Somedays the posts just flow. And then not.
- Do you limit the number of posts you will do on any one day? See #10. When the complete thoughts are there, I try to put them on Mac.
I recently began reading A Simple Walk. I like her straightforward style of writing. She combines practical tips and frugal with introspective thoughts. She had this questionnaire posted the other day and invites others to participate as well.
Thanks for answering my questions. I've had so much fun reading everyone's answers.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of taking a blogging binge. Now if I could only find the motivation to do that. There have been so many nights when I've sat down at my computer with 1000s of ideas floating around in my head and the determination to write tons of posts. But then I get caught up in reading others blogs, and all my good intentions fly right out the window! Since the 1000s of ideas is not that frequent of an occurence, I really should take advantage of it.
Also, thank you so much for your kind words about my blog. I'm so glad to know that someone "gets" me! Your blog is a lot of fun too. Your writing style and life in general seems very similar to mine. I really appreciate your perspective. I will definitely be back often. (And hey, then I can use your blog as an excuse for, yet again, delaying my blogging binge!)
[...] So I’ll take this opportunity to answer the Blogging Questionnaire made up by Kate at A Simple Walk which I originally saw at Elle’s of A Complete Thought. [...]
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed not only your answers, but the way you phrased them. :) I did this today for my two-year blogiversary.
