in my life when a holiday falls on a Friday. Saturday then becomes a bonus day of sorts.
Yesterday's festivities included a fun-filled day of cooking out, eating yummy appetizers, and watching the biggest passel of boys (plus one little girl) swim their brains out. Literally I expected my three sons, at least, to sprout gills before the day was over. They were crazy.
Equally fun was seeing the Daddies get into the water only to be dog-piled by nine boys trying to take them down. The only retaliation available was for the Daddies to do a whole bunch of dunking and tossing. The Moms' job was just to keep counting heads, both in going under and coming back up for air.
It was a sweet day for celebrating July the 4th. Hope you and yours also enjoyed the day.
Ha! I cannot sit beside a pool and not count heads! I don't have a great poolside temperment. Instead of conversation my eyes are on every child and making sure no one drowns.
ReplyDeleteI love Friday holidays, too!
ReplyDeleteI'm like Ellen -- I am not really at ease with kids in pools until everyone's safely out.

Seems like it's a good way to learn some geography. It's involved. I've never played, but it's been played on my dining room table a lot.
You've got cards, game pieces,
Ha! The only reason I can tell you this much is because the instructions from my son's game got left behind at the party yesterday :0)
We spent the night with my dad and new stepmother, which was really nice. The kids were all worried about messing up the yard, so every firecracker was sprayed with the hose as soon as it finished!
