Not liking God...

because what you learn about Him confronts feelings and knowledge of self, with all its deficiencies and with piercing, unrelenting accuracy.

Consider...pre-Fall, Eve was tidily set up in a beautiful paradise, where every need was provided of food and care, (no worries of how to buy the food, prepare the food, or clean the kitchen). She had a man who adored only her, (for there was no competition for his affection either of another woman, a guy friend or college football). She had a purposeful career in being the equal to Adam in holding dominion over the earth and animals, (no one was backstabbing her at the water cooler or getting paid a better wage). And she had the very promise of God that children would come of their fruitfulness, (she did not fear infertility). She even knew the fullest experience of hearing the very voice of God and communing with Him daily, (so she had no complaint of a dry spiritual life).

And yet, she still wanted? She wanted to know as much as God. She wanted to understand everything completely. She wanted to be totally in control. She wanted not to be told what she couldn't do or have. She wanted to be like God.

We do not like him for his holiness; God's holiness opposes and condemns our sin. We do not like him for his omniscience; his omniscience terrifies us because we fear exposure. We do not like God for his immutability, because immutability means that God will never be other than he is in all his other attributes." James Montgomery Boice

Would that each one truly want all that God is and always will be. Would that each one want nothing but His fullness. Would that each one want nothing but the praise of His glory. Would that each one want to be like Him, in perfect holiness.
