A High View of God...

is only fully described in God's own Word, the Bible.  As God inspired men by His Holy Spirit to write His revelation of Himself, their small words became invested with meaning and authority from Him alone.

"But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit:  for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God." 1 Cor. 2:10

Bloggers galore, myself included, make well-meaning but still pitiful attempts to describe His majesty, His magnificence, and His omniscience. For no language or small knowledge of man has the capacity to comprehensively describe the Lord Almighty.

Personally, I read Scripture to be my rule for faith and life.  Therefore, by that measure, Scripture convicts me thoroughly when, not if, my faith and life do not agree with Biblical truth.  The riches of His kindness described, read and studied in His Word lead me to repentance.

Riches like those found in reading Romans 11:33-36.  This amazing doxology rightly reduces my pride regarding words and understanding to meek humility of all that I do not know or possess when considering the Sovereign Almighty God.

"Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God!
How unsearchable his judgments,
and his paths beyond tracing out!
Who has known the mind of the Lord?
Or who has been his counselor?
Who has ever given to God,
that God should repay him?
For from him and through him and to him are all things.
To him be the glory forever!  Amen."

  1. "For no language or small knowledge of man has the capacity to comprehensively describe the Lord Almighty."

And how often it is attempted, and the end result is trivial. This is a wonderful post, Elle. May God be pleased with how we write and how we live.

  2. How foolish we are if we think we can fully understand Him. He is worthy of only our finest praise and reverence!

  3. This is so true! I need more of God's Word permeating my life, so that I can walk with Him. Thank you for this post!
